Early Signs of Hearing Loss: What to Look Out For – Clear Sound

Do you feel your hearing power has decreased lately? Or are you feeling some sort of tingling sound in your ears now and then? If the answer is yes, this is more than just overthinking!

According to WHO (World Health Organization), “ Approximately 63 million people in India suffer from significant hearing loss, representing about 6.3% of the population.” Maybe, you are or are going to be one of them too. But the good news is that you can prevent this by catching the early signs of Hearing Loss with self-assessment.

Diseases or disabilities that can be seen through the naked eye are easy to catch or diagnose, but to identify something like a hearing issue, you need to be attentive. There are multiple signs that you can target to determine your hearing situation.

Let’s discuss some of them in detail:

  1. Hearing any Constant Sound: If you hear a constant, buzzing, ringing or tinkling sound, it has to be a sign. Studies state that more than 50 million suffer one or another degree of a hearing difficulty condition known as “Tinnitus”. This condition baffles the patients through an uninterrupted sound of ringing in their ears.
  2. Difficulty to Hear in Crowded Places: If you find yourself facing difficulty hearing in a crowd or high-pitched sounds, your hearing capabilities are likely compromised. In this High-frequency hearing loss situation, patients avoid socializing and public gatherings as they feel unable to determine speeches in noisy places.
  3. Constantly Asking People to “Repeat”: “Can you say that again?”, The use of this statement is fine until you are using it in every second conversation you are making. Unable to hear speeches clearly in one go (most of the time) can be another sign of high-frequency hearing loss.
  4. Listening Fatigue: If you are putting in extra effort than usual to hear things in your day-to-day life, your auditory system can get strained. This will result in physical as well as mental exhaustion for the patient, and make them avoid their day-to-day conversations.

Bottom Line

As they say, not one theory works for all. When it comes to self-assessment, signs may vary from person to person. However, the above-mentioned signs are the most easily and frequently diagnosed symptoms in the majority of hearing loss cases.

After all this, if you still feel clueless, don’t wait for the problem to get worse. Make sure to consult any specialist like Clear Sound Hearing Clinic, to get the best consultation and assistance for your condition.
